olivia rose nathan

actor, artist, creator of devised work

olivia (liv) has been exercising their creative side since before they could talk. they'd wake up in their crib singing, rather than crying, and as soon as they could talk, one thing has been expressed: "I must create"!  when asked what she wanted to be when she was older, the answer was always "an actor". pretty much nothing has changed from age 3 to the present.

olivia participated in local theatre in their home state of New Hampshire from a very young age, all the way up to when she flew the coop and went to earn her B.F.A in acting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. after years studying movement, voice, the classics, the contemporaries, film, stage, playwriting, physical devised theatre-- you name it!-- olivia moved to Chicago, IL to work professionally in the Chicago theatre community. even in a pandemic, olivia is happily setting down their creative roots here.

physical devised theatre and movement have a special place in olivia's heart, especially alongside her work in yoga and trauma-informed movement. pairing yoga alongside olivia's acting education allowed her to integrate and embody characters on stage with greater richness and comfort. creating and devising physical theatre is a passion of her's, and she created countless movement pieces in school to fuel this passion. by the time she graduated, she had created a 10-minute ensemble piece (You Can Still Eat The Bruised Ones, 2018), a 10-minute one person show (391, 2019), and a 40-minute two person play (Shelf Life, 2019) that was based in physical theatre. she decided to take this passion with her to Chicago, where she worked on devising a full length physical theatre piece with Shattered Globe Theatre's Protege Program (MetaMorphic-- April 2020, cancelled due to COVID-19). she's even worked on devising and performing in a full-length Zoom play (A Fate Worse Than Death, 2021). stay tuned for olivia's program "Yoga for Actor's Training"-- a program born from her love of acting, movement, voice, yoga, and trauma-informed work.
