tiygas- trauma informed yoga guidance and support

“energy held in immobility can be transformed…

contrary to popular belief. trauma can be healed. not only can it be healed, but in many cases it can be healed without long hours of therapy; without the painful reliving of memories, and without a continuing reliance on medication.”

-Peter Levine, Walking The Tiger

we know that trauma lives in the body, mind, spirit, heart, soul, etc. trauma attaches to us and aligns with much more than what we can feel in our mind; trauma is internalized in our bodies. so often, our bodies are left out of our healing process, however, putting movement to our healing experience certainly assists our mission of transmuting trauma. when we embark on this journey, we allow trauma to move through us, and more importantly, out of us.

are you wondering why "TIYGAS" kind of sounds like "tigers" with a Boston accent? here's why:

  • the primary meaning of the tiger is willpower, personal strength and courage;

  • shadow or part of you that you would normally try to hide or reject;

  • aggression or anger directed at you or felt towards someone;

  • and/or unpredictability in life, actions or feelings

we can learn a lot from the tiger, as we work through trauma, our shadow, aggression, anger, and the unpredictability of life as we cultivate willpower, strength, and courage.

healing takes time, and is not linear.

the goal: by working with me in TIYGAS, you will develop skills to practice healing trauma with movement and other tools to continue to embody your personal revolution of healing. this program is goal oriented-- focused on realigning you with safety, empowerment, and feeling at home in your body, mind, and spirit.

TIYGAS is self paced-- you drive the train, control the speed, choose the direction. i lay down the tracks, offer options, directions, tools, and invite you to lean on me for support. we can play with tools such as music, painting, vocal yoga, movement, and more. we will learn yoga philosophy to provide a deeper framework for understanding the intersections of yoga and transcending trauma.

“It is time we think more creatively, more holistically, more honestly and more intentionally about how to best support survivors in healing; move outside of our standard practices and typical referrals to finally meet the body, mind and spiritual needs of our diverse survivor population.”

– Molly Boeder Harris, Founder & Executive Director of The Breathe Network
